We recently attended a property in Crookes, Sheffield S10, where the customer couldn’t open their bedroom uPVC window.
They tried to fix it by watching repair videos on YouTube, but unfortunately couldn’t resolve the problem themselves.
Rather than risk damaging the window, they contacted SF Locksmith Sheffield to investigate and repair it.
Faulty uPVC window locking mechanism replaced.
After carefully opening the bedroom window, we discovered that the internal locking mechanism had failed.
We removed the faulty mechanism and fitted a suitable new replacement. We then serviced and checked the window to ensure it opened, closed, and locked smoothly again.
We completed the repair during the same visit, without replacing the entire window.
Bedroom window working again
The customer was very pleased with how quickly Stephen identified the fault and got the bedroom window working properly again.
A failed locking mechanism is a common reason why uPVC windows become stuck or refuse to open.
If your window is stuck shut, avoid forcing the handle or frame, as this can cause further damage.
The Master Locksmiths Association also provides useful guidance on common window lock faults and repairs.
Our two-year guarantee covers all replacement parts and labour.
